Excellence in HVAC needs training, certification and licencing. The proper functioning of the equipment and the optimal performance of the system can only be guaranteed by a professional in the field.

Certified technicians acquire specific knowledge and technical information related to absorption systems, mechanical air properties, cooling components, boiler and combustion systems, heat loads, pipe design and insulation strategies, pressure safety systems, cooling principals, power supply, electronic circuits and controls, interpretation of drawings and design schemes, equipment requirements, ventilation testing, environmental laws and everything related to legislation, insurance and civil liabilities related to the HVAC services.

Licenses in the State of Texas
The State of Texas is no exception to the licensing requirements to operate in the HVAC world, but it is important to clarify that if it makes a distinction between “ambient air conditioning” and “commercial refrigeration and process cooling or heating,” creating two different types of licenses. Even so, in both cases the professional must complete a state-administered exam and complete the forms that include an application for an ACR contractor license in Texas.
The TACLA and TACLB licenses refer to the two types of HVAC licensing in Texas. The Class A license allows working in units of any size, while the Class B license allows working on cooling systems of 25 tons or less, and on heating systems of 1.5 million BTU / hour and less.
There are also certifications of “Technical Excellence of North America (NATE)”and “HVAC Excellence“, which are certificates issued by accredited organizations to prepare and train technicians in technical excellence for HVAC services. After the corresponding exams in each organization, HVAC technicians obtain a national certification that accredits them as competent and highly qualified.
In addition to NATE and HVAC Excellence, there is a federal certification that HVAC technicians must obtain for responsible handling of refrigerants. HVAC technicians must be duly certified by the Environmental Protection Agency to purchase, handle, store and dispose of any type of refrigerants as established in the EPA refrigeration license (section 608), and in the R-410A Safety Certificate.
Finally, and due to legislation, in the State of Texas, companies with more than 15 employees (and coverage for workers’ compensation) must adopt the policy of drug reduction in the workplace. It is for this reason that employees are required to comply with and display updated certificates of toxicology and physical fitness to demonstrate that they are free of prohibited substances or that hinder their productivity and performance.
